Every Weekly Playlist we put together is intentionally planned around what we’ve been writing about that week — and Weekly Playlist #9 is a perfect reflection of how the blog unfolded.

Nothing here is random. Each song connects directly to an album review, song review, artist spotlight, or Same Vibes piece that went live over the past week. If you followed along with the blog, this playlist should feel familiar. If you didn’t, it works as a musical recap of everything we explored.

A Foo Fighters–Heavy Week (In the Best Way)

This week naturally turned into a deep dive into Foo Fighters, and that made perfect sense. They’re one of my favorite bands, and with multiple pieces focused on different points in their catalog, they had to be featured in a big way.

We kicked the week off with our Underrated Series entry on Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace, an album released later in the band’s career that highlights a more refined, melodic, and emotionally balanced side of Foo Fighters. From there, we revisited The Colour and the Shape for Album Review #8, one of the most defining rock albums of the late ’90s and a cornerstone of the band’s early sound. That led directly into our Song Review of “Best of You,” a track released years later that shows just how massive and emotionally charged the band became in the mid-2000s.

With all of that in mind, the playlist intentionally spans multiple eras of Foo Fighters: from “The Pretender,” “Let It Die,” “Long Road to Ruin,” and “But, Honestly,” back to “Monkey Wrench” and “Everlong,” and through “Best of You.” It’s a broad look at a band that’s grown without ever losing its core identity.

Aerosmith’s Legacy and Modern Rock Influence

That rock foundation carried right into “Mama Kin,” which we covered in a song review. It’s a reminder of how raw, loose, and dangerous early Aerosmith sounded — and how timeless that energy still is.

That influence connects directly to our Artist Spotlight on Dirty Honey, where we talked about how much Aerosmith has inspired their sound. The playlist makes that connection very clear.

“Last Child” appears here as Dirty Honey’s cover of the Aerosmith classic, sitting alongside originals like “When I’m Gone,” “Rolling 7s,” and “Another Last Time.” Together, these tracks show how classic rock influence can be carried forward without sounding dated.

Same Vibes to Close the Week

The final two tracks on the playlist were chosen very deliberately.

This week also featured a Same Vibes piece on Taylor Swift and Billie Eilish, and ending the playlist with “champagne problems” and “you should see me in a crown” felt like the perfect way to wrap things up. We also covered each of these songs in deep dive song reviews.

They’re very different songs sonically — one quiet and devastating, the other dark and defiant — but both reflect the confidence, control, and emotional clarity that connects those two artists.
