This midweek, demonstration-based workshop is designed to take the mystery — and the stress — out of restringing your instrument, whether you’re a brand-new player or someone who’s been playing for years but still hands the job off to a tech.

What the Clinic Will Cover
Our repair technician will walk through the proper way to restring several common instruments, explaining not just how to do it, but why each step matters.
We’ll cover:
- Electric guitar
- Acoustic guitar
- Classical Acoustic Guitar (Nylon Strings)
- Bass guitar
- 12-string guitar
Along the way, you’ll learn:
- How often you should actually be changing strings
- How to choose the right strings for your instrument and playing style
- Proper string removal and installation
- Correct winding techniques at the tuning pegs
- Tuning and stretching tips for better stability
- Common mistakes that cause tuning issues, breakage, or premature wear
This is a demonstration-based clinic, meaning you’ll be able to clearly see each step, ask questions as we go, and leave with the confidence to do it yourself at home.

The clinic is also a great opportunity to meet Don Gould, our in-house repair technician, ask questions, and learn what’s normal, what’s fixable, and when it’s time to bring an instrument in for service.
While this clinic focuses on string changes, Nick & Tiff Music offers repair services on nearly all instruments, not just guitars. If something doesn’t feel right with your instrument — tuning issues, buzzing, worn strings, minor hardware problems, or general maintenance — Don can help.
