At Nick & Tiff Music, we believe keeping instruments playable makes a real difference. Whether it’s a guitar that no longer feels comfortable in your hands, a student instrument that’s seen a few school years, or something small that’s been put off for “another day,” simple repairs and routine maintenance can make a huge difference.
Over time, strings wear out, parts loosen, and setups drift. None of that means an instrument is broken — it usually just means it needs a little attention.
That’s why we’re excited to officially say: we now offer repairs on almost all instruments, including guitars, band, and orchestra instruments.

We Now Offer Instrument Repairs
Our repair services are focused on practical, affordable fixes that help you get the most out of your instrument without unnecessary upsells or long turnaround times.
Some of the most common repairs we handle include:
- Guitar string changes
- Guitar setups
- Output jack issues
- Strap button fixes
- Tuning machine problems
- General maintenance for school band and orchestra instruments including Instrument cleanings
Often, these are the kinds of issues players live with longer than they should — a guitar that won’t stay in tune, strings that feel stiff, or an instrument that just doesn’t feel quite right anymore.
In many cases, the solution is simpler (and cheaper) than people expect.
Why Small Repairs Matter More Than You Think
Old strings can affect tuning stability, tone, and even intonation. A minor setup issue can make a guitar feel harder to play than it needs to be, especially for beginners or students.
For school band and orchestra instruments, regular maintenance isn’t just helpful — it’s essential. Pads wear down, adjustments slip, and small problems can quickly turn into frustrating ones if they’re ignored.
Taking care of these issues early:
- Makes instruments easier and more enjoyable to play
- Helps students stay motivated
- Extends the life of the instrument
Beyond playability and sound, brass and woodwind cleaning is also a health issue. Moisture and bacteria naturally accumulate inside instruments, and when routine cleaning is skipped, those contaminants stay in the instrument — and get breathed back in. Regular professional cleaning helps prevent buildup, extends the life of the instrument, and keeps players safe and comfortable.
Our goal is to keep instruments out of closets and back in hands where they belong.
When It’s Time to Have an Instrument Checked
If your guitar hasn’t felt right lately, if a student instrument needs attention, or if something just doesn’t seem quite right, bring it in, we can help. Even small fixes can completely change how an instrument feels and sounds.
In many cases, understanding why an instrument feels or sounds a certain way can make all the difference. We’re happy to help connect you with professional repair and maintenance services and keep your instrument playing the way it should.
That’s one of the reasons we’re hosting a Guitar String Clinic — January 28th, 6:00pm–7:00pm where our repair tech will demonstrate proper string changes, talk through common setup issues, and answer questions players might not even realize they have yet.
It’s a great opportunity to learn something useful — whether you change your own strings or just want to understand your instrument better. It is a Free Live Demonstration, but space is limited and we recommend reserving your spot. 716-255-9837, nickandtiffmusic@gmail.com
Repairs are now part of what we do — and we’re happy to help keep your instrument playing the way it should.
